Rod Stroup sold his first commissioned painting to his seventh grade art teacher. Since then his commitment to art has assumed many dimensions. As a successful painter, sculptor, illustrator and seriographer. Stroup has produced a body of work that ranges from the quiet beauty of landscapes to the individualism of abstract art. His work encompasses a spectrum of styles, from intensely personal portraits to political cartoons to stainless steel sculpture. All bear his distinctive style, with an unerring eye for design and a flair for the unusual.Stroup’s career as a professional artist blossomed during his early twenties. Working in the graphics department of a government agency, Stroup earned a reputation as a talented photographer and illustrator.

His skills earned him a variety of freelance assignments, and a few years later, a position as staff artist with San Diego’s Union Tribune newspaper, San Diego’s major daily publication. During this time, Stroup expanded his abilities to art direction and computer skills producing all manner of freehand and computer-augmented illustration.

Currently Stroup provides his artistic talents and consulting to a line of clients he has accumulated over his many years in the business.

Whether it is a newspaper, magazine, book, music CD, corporate identity, or any other kind of illustration requiring creativity, imagination and quality Stroup is the man.
